Courses & Workshops

Drawing , Painting & Mixed Media Creative Landscape Courses

Inspired by the fantastic landscape surrounding the studio, these courses will introduce you to different materials, tools and processes to produce exciting and creative responses to your surroundings. These courses are suitable for beginners and improvers, and anyone who wants to explore different ways of using colour, markmaking and media in their work. The course will allow time for plenty of experimentation and exploration with a view to developing more sustained pieces as the course progresses.

Creative Landscapes , 4 day Special Courses

These extended 4 day Creative Landscape courses will give you the opportunity to explore a wider range of landscapes including river views, open countryside , beautiful woodland, all within easy access of the studio.

Sketchbooks will be used for extensive observations and experimentations outside and then ideas will be developed into sustained pieces back in the studio.

Observation to Abstraction

Discover how to develop ideas for abstract works, inspired by both the natural and manmade environment surrounding the studio. There will be a wide range of media and techniques utilised on this mixed media drawing & painting course to enable you to discover your preferences.

During the course, you will develop an understanding of composition, colour and texture in the use of abstract works, with plenty of experimentation along the way.

We will explore the work of a number of artists on this course, enabling you to develop a confident understanding of how you can use abstraction within your work.

Ideal for those with some experience who want to explore different ideas through their work

Using a wide range of media, this experimental painting & drawing course will take inspiration from beautiful flowers & foliage. Ideal for beginners or improvers, we will focus on developing approaches from observation.

Concertina Sketchbooks - £85

Next course: Saturday 18th October

This is an excellent workshop for beginners or those returning to art making.....it is also a lot of fun for the more experienced artist, with a chance to experiment with the format of concertina sketchbooks, exploring a range of materials and techniques. Resources will be provided to inspire your books and you will create personal and exciting pages throughout the day.

Half Day Workshops

Colour mixing & colour theory, acrylics / oils - £60

Take a morning or afternoon session to really learn about how to mix colours. Using acrylics or oil paints, we will go through colour theory and colour mixing, giving you the knowledge to improve your paintings.

Concertina Sketchbooks - Colour , Markmaking & Pattern - £60

A half day, introductory session to concertina sketchbooks, colour and pattern. This is a fun course, ideal for beginners or those wanting to try something new and explore materials and markmaking.
